Fort Smith Woman Arrested in Connection With Downtown Stabbing Incident

FORT SMITH – A lady was taken into custody by the police on Wednesday in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred downtown, as stated in a news release issued by the Police Department.

There was no bond set for Summer Dawn Meeks, who is 21 years old homeless, and lives in Fort Smith. She was being detained at the Sebastian County Detention Center on Wednesday.

At approximately three o’clock on Wednesday afternoon, officers went to a complaint of a stabbing that had occurred close to the intersection of North Fifth and A streets. Upon arrival, they discovered that a 58-year-old man had incurred many injuries.

According to the release, the man was taken to a nearby hospital, but owing to the severity of his injuries at the time of the complaint, he was unable to offer a statement. He was brought to the hospital.

It is stated in the release that the investigation is still ongoing.
