Fortnite servers down as Epic Games investigates login and matchmaking issues
Many users are currently unable to access the FORTNITE servers while developer Epic Games investigates login and matchmaking problems.
Many users are complaining that servers are down today, December 4, 2024, despite Fortnite’s brand-new Chapter 6 Season 1 having premiered last weekend.
The continued downtime today is an unforeseen server disruption, in contrast to the scheduled maintenance period on Saturday.
Epic Games, the company behind Fortnite, confirmed on Twitter a few seconds ago that the game is having server problems.
According to the official article, “We are currently working to resolve an issue that is affecting logins and matchmaking.”
Epic Games has pledged to notify gamers when they can resume playing online while they investigate the problem.

The Epic titles Store and other titles that depend on Epic for matchmaking and login are also having problems, according to the developer’s server status website.
According to website Downdetector.com, the first complaints of the current Fortnite outage surfaced at approximately 3:45 p.m. UK time (10:45 a.m. ET) today, December 4, 2024.
Around 4:14 p.m. UK time/11:14 a.m. ET, Epic Games confirmed the problem, and as of this writing, their investigation into the server outage is still underway.
The majority of the problems that players are reporting are related to login and server connections, but it appears that these are almost resolved because some players were able to log in once again.
Since then, Epic Games has changed the status of the problem from “Major outage” to “Degraded performance” on their own page.
You are unable to access your online services account. Please try again later. is a frequent problem that users are currently encountering when attempting to log into the game.
Due to the same current outage, PlayStation users are receiving a similar “Unable to sign in to your account for PlayStation Network.” message.
Players should anticipate that the problem will be fixed in a few hours, even if the developers have not specified when servers will be back online.
Epic Games’ most recent report on Fortnite’s outage, which was released at 4:41 p.m. UK time/11:41 a.m. ET, states that the devs are still looking into the problem.
You may always check the current Fortnite status in the interim by visiting the Fortnite Status Twitter/X account or the Epic Games server status page.
