Four iPhone tricks that still work even with DEAD battery including making payments and using genius location perk
Your iPhone still has a lot of power even when it is not charged.
Even when the battery is completely dead, there are a few ingenious iPhone functions that continue to function.
Knowing them is crucial since they can come to your rescue in an emergency.
MAKING PAYMENTS AND UNLOCKING YOUR CAR
First off, you can still pay for some items even if your iPhone is dead.
In particular, you are able to pay for certain forms of public transportation.
Express Mode is a feature that it uses to function.

You can make the payment without unlocking your iPhone thanks to this feature, which operates even when it is turned on.
For example, your Express Mode card will be charged if you tap into the NYC subway or London Underground with a locked iPhone.
You can select which card to use in your Apple Settings, however Express Mode is on by default.
If you’re trying to purchase a sandwich at the store, it won’t work; it’s solely for transit.
If you have your automobile key set up on your iPhone, this also unlocks your engine.
When you add your car key to the Apple Wallet, it will continue to function even if your iPhone is dead.
“You might be able to use your Express Mode cards, passes, and keys on your iPhone, even when your device needs to be charged,” Apple says.
“Powerreserve works for up to five hours with some cards, passes, and keys that have Express Mode turned on.”
When your iPhone is not charging, push the side button to see whether it will function.
Which of your keys and cards can be utilized with power reserve should be made clear by this.
Just be careful not to use it excessively as this could deplete the remaining power.
The only other caveat is that if you have manually turned off your iPhone, the feature will not function.
Before the power reserve is accessible, your iPhone must run out of battery.
FIND YOUR PHONE!
One of the greatest methods for finding a misplaced iPhone is to use Find My.
You should use this iPhone app if you haven’t already. It allows you to see the locations of your other devices.
Additionally, you can locate your iPhone by using a browser to access Apple’s iCloud website. Or simply use one of your other Apple devices.
Crucially, even if the battery on your iPhone runs low, Find My can still function.
However, only iPhones with an ultra-wideband processor are included.

It connects to the Find My network and is accessible on iPhone models 11 and up.
If such chip is present in your iPhone, an active iPhone can identify it when it is not in use.
It is this Find My Network that enables you to locate your iPhone while it is “offline,” manually turned off, or has run out of battery (but not completely out of power reserve).
You should see a notification that reads “iPhone is Findable” if you have your iPhone with you and it is dead (assuming you have it configured correctly).
However, this only functions when there is a sufficient power reserve.
TELLING THE TIME
You can now see the time even if your iPhone is dead thanks to a recent Apple update.
The iOS 18 version, which was released in September of last year, included the feature.
Go to Settings > General > Software Update to check if you already have it or download it.
HOW TO SET UP EXPRESS MODE
This is the official Apple manual.
Apple adds: “Your Apple Watch’s Express Transit Mode allows you to choose a different transit or payment card:
“Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone. Tap Wallet & Apple Pay under the My Watch tab.
“Then tap Express Transit Card, select a transit or payment card, and authenticate on your Apple Watch with your passcode.”

Once more, this makes use of the iPhone’s power reserve, which also makes Express Mode possible.

The battery icon and the time should now show up when you push the power button.
Additionally, “iPhone is Findable” will appear if your iPhone is configured to be located when the battery runs low.
