Fox NFL analyst Mike Pereira forced to explain rules loophole which left Vikings-Bears viewers completely confused
During the Minnesota Vikings-Chicago Bears game, FOX NFL rules expert Mike Pereira exposed an incredible replay review flaw.
The scene took place in the third quarter of the Week 12 Minnesota Vikings’ 30-27 road overtime victory.
Jordan Addison, a second-year wide receiver for Minnesota, opened the quarter with a 68-yard pass.
The play was halted by Bearshead coach Matt Eberflusch, who thought Addison had stepped out of bounds before gaining more yards following the reception.
It seemed from a camera viewpoint that Addison remained within the lines.
The play was not overturned by the NFL officiating staff.

Pereira claims that because the boundary camera angle was used on the replay in question and not all NFL stadiums had that camera angle, the referees were still unable to overturn the original decision on the coach’s challenge. This would not be fair to other teams.
“You are not permitted to utilize the boundary cam if a coach is questioned. There is an equity issue because not all stadiums have boundary cameras, Pereira stated.
Pereira’s explanation of the rule’s loophole left NFL fans perplexed.
“Why try to get a call right when you have the means to do so?” someone questioned.
Another person questioned, “Right but like… WHY aren’t they in every stadium?”
“NFL is a billion-dollar company with 10 cent excuses,” said a third.

During the process, Pereira also gave the subject a deeper level of complexity.
He revealed that during official reviews, referees are permitted to employ the boundary camera angle.
Late in each half, scoring plays, turnovers, or calls satisfy the requirements of official reviews.
The Vikings would go on to win their ninth game of the season in overtime.
Minnesota’s Sam Darnold helped the club make a game-winning 29-yard field goal by throwing 90 of his 330 yards in overtime.
Addison recorded a career-high 162 yards and a touchdown on eight grabs.
In contrast, the Bears suffered their fifth consecutive defeat.
