Fox NFL Sunday star chased by creditors attempting to make him bankrupt over unpaid debts

Debt collectors are pursuing Michael Vick in an effort to file for bankruptcy.

Vick is now under pressure from creditors just days after agreeing to take over as Norfolk State football’s next head coach.

According to TMZ Sports, court records reveal that Vick and his wife Kijafa were the targets of involuntary Chapter 7 bankruptcy filings filed by three creditors: Gerald Lee Craig, Eduardo D. Arkos, and Kathleen Safreed.

Vick’s lawyer is referring to the collectors’ attempt to extract a substantial amount of money from him as “frivolous.”

According to the creditors, Vick and his spouse are owed $509,652 for a 2018 loan that was never repaid.

In an attempt to get that money back from Vick, they wish to file him for bankruptcy.

In a statement, Vick’s lawyer, Arthur J. Jones, criticized these actions.

“This frivolous attempt at forcing Michael Vick into involuntary bankruptcy is a continuation of the shenanigans which began with the secondary securities market purporting to sell a usurious debt without Mr. Vick’s knowledge,” he stated.

“The petitioners’ action is particularly irrational given that Mr. Vick attempted to cooperate with them in order to settle the debt in a reasonable sum.

“If they keep going in this direction, we completely anticipate that the federal court will sanction them.

“Legalities aside, it is also foolish to seek media attention aimed at wrongfully harming Mr. Vick’s name and reputation when the idea should be to resolve matters instead of create new ones or waste time.

“This law office will take all actions permissible under the law to address any and all harm caused by the petitioners with this bankruptcy filing.”

Vick has previously struggled financially, declaring Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2008.

In 2022, another set of creditors filed a lawsuit against him, claiming he owed $1.2 million in delinquent loans.

Vick has been a face on FoxNFLCountdown every Sunday morning lately.

He is leaving that position to become Norfolk State University’s head coach.

After extensive discussions with Sacramento State, Vick agreed to the position.
