Fresh twist to Rachel Reeves’ CV row after claim made in legal filing emerges

Last night, a claim made in a court document gave Rachel Reeves’ CV controversy a NEW turn.

In a statement submitted to Companies House, a government agency, Ms. Reeves claimed to be an economist when she was appointed a director of the charity Barca, based in Leeds, in May 2008.

However, the Chancellor made it clear this week that she was actually employed by Halifax at the time in retail banking.

Ms. Reeves is an economist by profession, according to a source close to her.

After the Chancellor was accused of lying on her resume, No. 10 failed to state yesterday that Rachel Reeves had complied with ministerial integrity regulations.

Following the covert editing of Ms. Reeves’ LinkedIn page last week, Tory shadow ministers asked that she come clean.

Rachel Reeves ‘lied about time spent working for Bank of England’

The Chancellor’s assertion that she was employed as an economist at the Bank of Scotland from 2006 to 2009 was modified to indicate that she was involved in Halifax’s retail banking.

Yesterday’s No. 10 raised concerns about whether Ms. Reeves has been honest with the public regarding her previous job.

He is absolutely clear that this is a Chancellor who has been honest with the people about the status of the public finances and what is required to restore financial stability, which is of utmost importance, the PM’s spokeswoman stated.
