Fury as Labour accused of opening ‘backdoor’ migrant route after 60 Sri Lankans land on remote British territory
Following the arrival of 60 migrants on a distant British territory, the government has been charged with creating a backdoor migrant route.
The Tamil asylum seekers have called for their transfer to the United Kingdom after becoming stuck on the Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean in 2021.
The previous Tory government declined to airlift them to Britain in spite of mounting pressure, including multiple suicide attempts.
Although the previous Conservative government refused to fly them here, Sir Keir Starmer’s administration has finally done so.
“Starmer has opened a back door to the UK,” said Robert Jenricka, the former immigration minister.
Even though some of the illegal immigrants he has flown to our shores may be criminals and child abusers, he has done this needlessly.
Some Tory MPs have expressed concern that they might be seasoned criminals.
According to former Home Office adviser Nick Timothy, officials are concerned that some members of the organization are seasoned criminals.
“Labor were under no obligation to take any of these Sri Lankan migrants,” he told The Sun.
However, it appears that ministers have brought them to Britain without even looking up their criminal histories.
This is prioritizing the well-being of foreigners over the security of British residents. It’s insane.
According to a government spokesperson, a few people have been temporarily moved to the UK, and this is an isolated incident.
With the exception of the UK-US Diego Garcia base, Sir Keir has reached an agreement with Mauritius to cede sovereignty of the Chagos Islands.
