Gen Z are abandoning traditional Christmas favourites including mince pies & Xmas pudding for plant-based dishes

Traditional Christmas favorites like mince pies, Christmas pudding, and cranberry sauce are being abandoned by Generation Z.

According to a survey of 2,000 Christmas-loving adults, 78% of them would be thrilled to see plant-based roasts and international-inspired meals on the table on the 25th.

However, bread sauce and Brussels sprouts are also losing favor with these young people.

Regarding classic favorites, 54% of Gen Z and Millennials, their older counterparts, think that in order for traditional Christmas recipes to be relevant, they should be updated with contemporary ingredients.

Christmas pudding and other seasonal favorites were described as outdated by 56% of these two groups.

For individuals who are sick of their dry fruit sponge on Christmas Day, Aldi, the company that commissioned the study, has introduced a Christmas Pudding Exchange Service.

Additionally, it was found that the primary motivation for all Christmas celebrants to alter their customary meal is to better suit their individual tastes (34%).

Twenty-seven percent would change things up to accommodate dietary constraints, and twenty-six percent would prefer a meal that is more daring or interesting.

However, two-thirds (67%) of Gen Z believe that having an Instagram-worthy Christmas feast is crucial.
