Georgian Residents Arrested in Batumi for ILLEGAL FIREARMS and AMMUNITION in Terrorism Probe
As part of the ongoing investigation into a terrorist crime, the State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG) announced on June 6 that two Georgian residents had been arrested for the unlawful acquisition and storage of firearms and ammunition. The arrests were made in connection with the investigation.
Batumi was the location of the unique operation, which was carried out simultaneously at two different areas within the city.
Automatic guns, pistols, hand grenades, flags bearing emblems of the terrorist organization known as “Islamic State,” and various pieces of evidence were reportedly taken from the dwellings of the individuals who were arrested, as stated by the Special Security Service of the Government (SSSG).

In accordance with Articles 236 and 328 of the Criminal Code, which provide jail penalties ranging from three to six years and ten to seventeen years, respectively, the State Security Service (SSSG) has taken note of the fact that the Counter-Terrorism Center of the State Security Service is currently conducting an investigation.
In the meantime, the Special Security Service (SSSG) has stated that anti-terrorism measures are being aggressively carried out in order to determine the connections that the individuals who have been detained have with the terrorist organization known as the “Islamic State.”
