Girl, 17, mauled to death by shark while swimming at tourist hotspot beach in Queensland after paramedics rush to scene

While swimming off a popular Australian beach, a teenager was attacked to death by a shark.

Following reports of the attack, emergency personnel raced to Woorim Beach at approximately 4:45 p.m. local time.

According to the police, the woman suffered potentially fatal injuries and passed away shortly after 5:00 p.m.

The nearest surf beach north of Brisbane is Woorim Ocean Beach, a well-liked surfing location.

The deadly attack comes after Lance Appleby, a 28-year-old surfer, was murdered by a shark off the coast of South Australia in January.

On the fateful evening, Appleby was having fun in the sea at the well-known The Granites beach, which is close to the seaside resort of Streaky Bay.

Horrified witnesses claim to have seen a figure approaching him in the sea at approximately 7:10 p.m.

Later, police verified that they had located the well-known Australian surfer’s torn surfboard.

The victim’s family friend Jeff Schumucker, who witnessed the tragedy firsthand, provided a terrifying account of the surfer’s last minutes.

He was attacked after he grabbed a wave, flipped off the wave, and paddled back, he told 7NEWS.

Several witnesses jumped onto jet skis in a desperate attempt to frighten away any would-be assassins during the man’s search.

Others contacted the police while remaining on the beach.

Locals reported that Appleby had returned to the Eyre Peninsula to celebrate Christmas with his family.

The Adelaide Advertiser claims that the stunning stretch of coastline is a shark hotspot, particularly during this season.

Because the water conditions are ideal for great white sharks, shark researchers have consistently referred to the area as a playground for these creatures.

Over the last two years, the state of South Australia has had an unusually high number of shark attacks.

A school chaplain and avid fisherman also lost his life in a terrifying shark attack on Australia’s Great Barrier Reef in December.

Youth pastor Luke Walford was killed by mauling while spearfishing with his family.

The 40-year-old passed away almost an hour after the incident, despite the fact that paramedics were able to provide him with medical care, according to the BBC.

When the attack occurred, he and his family were in the sea close to Humpy Island in Keppel Bay Islands National Park, which is part of the Great Barrier Reef.

Walford served as the pastor of the Cathedral of Praise church in Rockhampton, Queensland, as well as a school chaplain.
