“Guilty as Charged?” Colorado Man Sentenced to Life for 2020 Murders

A Colorado man who pled guilty to murdering five persons whose remains were discovered in Colorado in 2020 has been given five life terms, according to court records.

Adre Baroz, 29, pled guilty in February to five counts of first-degree murder, tampering with a deceased human corpse, assault, and kidnapping, according to his sentence order. Baroz was accused of arranging the killings for seven weeks, dismembering the victims, and burning their remains in pits, according to CNN station KRDO.

Baroz was arrested in November 2020 after the remains of three victims were discovered on two rural properties in Lasauses, Colorado, near the New Mexico border, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. According to the criminal complaint, he was accused of the murders of five people: Myron Martinez, Shayla Hammel, Selena Esquibel, Xavier “Zeven” Garcia, and Korina Arroyo.

On May 3, Baroz was condemned to consecutive life terms with an additional 140 years in jail. CNN has requested a statement from Baroz’s attorney.

According to KRDO, three additional individuals, including Baroz’s brother, pled guilty to crimes related to the deaths and were punished. CNN has reached out to their attorneys for comment.

The brother, Julius Anthony Baroz, pled guilty to conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and received a 25-year jail sentence, according to the sentencing order. Francisco Ramirez pled guilty to three counts of tampering with a deceased human body and received a 24-year prison sentence, according to his docket.
