Gwen Stefani shocks fans with new look to promote prayer app as they ask ‘what happened to Hollaback Girl?’
While promoting the Hallow prayer app, GWEN Stefani surprised fans with a drastically altered appearance.
As the Voicecoach, 55, decorates the Christmas tree in the video, she forgoes her trademark provocative style in favor of a modest plaid outfit and talks about “celebrating the birth of our Lord.”
Gwengushes says, “Christmas season has always been my favorite time of the year,” in the advertisement for the Christian prayer app Hallow.
“We get to commemorate the birth of our Lord throughout this season.
“This year, I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve joined Hallow, an incredible app for prayer, meditation, and music, in their Advent Pray 25 prayer challenge, which takes place over 25 days running up to Christmas.
Come celebrate the fact that God loved the world so much that he gave us his only son with me and millions of other Christians worldwide.
Get Hallow, and come pray with me every day. “May God bless you!”
SO BANANAS
After seeing the tape, which showed a far more subdued and modest Gwen than they were accustomed to, the pop star’s devoted admirers did a second take.
Is this the individual that provided us with Hollaback Girl? “Is that correct?” a follower asked on Twitter.
Another person asked, “There’s no way this is real right?” “I can t believe my eyes.”
A third wrote, “This s**t is bananas,” quoting a line from Gwen’s 2004 smash song Hollaback Girl.
A fourth thought the video might represent artificial intelligence.
Her marriage to conservative country music artist Blake Shelton, according to some fans, “changed” her previous punk-rock sound.
‘TURN TO MY FAITH’
Others countered that Gwen has long been outspoken about her views.
One admirer remarked, “She has always been open about her faith,””This isn t out of character for her personal life.”
Gwen has discussed how her spirituality helped her recover from her 2015 divorce from ex-husband Gavin Rossdale.
