Head-on collision kills woman driving on Hayes Road

FOX 2: MACOMB COUNTY, MIMacomb County saw a crash Monday night that claimed the life of a woman. Witnesses stopped and attempted to assist, but they were unable to do anything.

A white Ram truck was traveling south on Hayes Road, close to 21 Mile, at 7:30 p.m. Monday, according to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, when it allegedly entered the center turn lane and collided head-on with a white Mazda that was traveling north.
The Mazda reportedly crashed into a fence after rolling over several times.

“My husband came in with a flashlight because I m on the phone and i can t do both things at the same time,” she stated. “I noticed the woman hanging upside down in the car when he arrived with a flashlight. She was confined.
Valenti recalls hearing her breathe and requesting scissors to cut the seatbelt so she could be freed, but he claims that nobody was able to help.
“We thought there were many more people in the car because I saw baby blankets, like children blankets in size,” she continued. “So I started panicking because of course, you panic,”
According to her, first responders and deputies arrived on the scene right away.
They confirmed that the victim, a 45-year-old Shelby Township woman, was the only person in the car when they declared her dead.
According to reports, the second driver, a 17-year-old, was hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries. He should get better.
She describes Valenti’s experience as terrible. She hopes that others will drive more cautiously and carefully as a result of this collision.
