Health Violations Force Closure of Two Central Florida Restaurants
Volusia County, FL — Last week, Uncle Chicken’s Cast Iron Kitchen in New Smyrna Beach and Sally’s Diner IV LLC in Orange City were temporarily closed due to significant health violations discovered by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
Uncle Chicken’s Cast Iron Kitchen, located at 409 Mary Ave., was shut down on June 18 after inspectors found seven violations, including failure to discard ready-to-eat food within seven days and evidence of rodent activity. A follow-up inspection on June 19 showed improvements, allowing the restaurant to reopen.
Sally’s Diner IV LLC, at 2487 S. Volusia Ave. Suite 101, was closed on June 19 due to 17 violations, including rodent activity, improper food temperatures, and food contact with an employee’s bare skin. A subsequent inspection later that day found additional minor violations, but the diner addressed the issues and reopened.

Across Central Florida, several counties reported numerous restaurant complaints and warnings, with Orange County leading with 21 incidents. These closures underscore the importance of health inspections in ensuring food safety.
