Heartbreaking final post of rock climber, 30, before she fell off cliff to her death in front of friend
A rock climber who fell down a cliff edge in front of her buddy has shared her tragic last post.
Last weekend, Micah Manalese, 30, of Southern California, fell to her death while hiking the well-traveled Pine Creek Trail in Red Rocks Canyon, Nevada.
Despite frantically rushing in a helicopter to the accident scene, rescuers were unable to save her.
A group of climbers across the canyon also observed the tragedy, which happened as Micah was climbing with a friend.
In her tragic farewell Facebook message, the 30-year-old shared how much she loved rock climbing and how she only picked it up again after a long hiatus.
On New Year’s Eve 2024, Micah wrote: “I have been outdoor climbing since 2014, but it has been neglected for the last four years.

“Rekindling my enthusiasm for sport climbing this year was a memorable moment for me.
“I appreciate all of the belays and outdoor time you gave me. I’m craving more.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, on the afternoon of January 18, they conducted two rescue operations concurrently on the popular climbing route known as Cat in the Hat.
While other responders frantically pulled four climbers whose rope became terrifyingly trapped across the canyon, rescuers raced to Micah’s aid.
On a fundraiser page, Micah’s distraught family stated that the four-person group saw her terrible accident from the other side of the gorge.
A few days after the climber’s death, Robert, the late 30-year-old’s boyfriend, also posted a heartbreaking homage to her on Instagram.
“I lost my girlfriend, my best friend, and my co-conspirator this past weekend,” he stated. I’m devastated.
“Micah was a very unique individual. Anyone who had the opportunity to meet her was blessed by her bravery and extroverted nature.
“I will always treasure our time together.
“She absolutely meant the world to me, and I wish we could have shared more of this world with each other.”
Michel Manalese, Micah’s grieving sister, also honored the late climber on Thursday.
“Last Saturday, Micah had an accident and died while doing what she loves, rock climbing,” she posted on Instagram.
She had spent ten years climbing. It was one of her many life hobbies and skills. I have been grieving this great loss together with my family and her friends.
“Micah, you are sorely missed. You were incredibly gifted, imaginative, attractive, powerful, and vivacious.
“Having you as my sister is such a blessing.
“I wish I could hug you, tell you how much you make me proud, and how you were the best big sister I could ask for.”
Micah would frequently practice climbing at Sender One in Santa Ana, California, according to the fundraising.
