Homeowners can receive $10,000 in free cash to fix pesky issues but there’s an age limit to who gets it
A new program provides up to $10,000 to assist homeowners with renovations.
The free money can be used by qualified candidates to fix annoying issues with their home, such as leaking roofs and malfunctioning HVAC systems.
The program is open to anybody between the ages of 18 and 61 who live in Forest Park, Georgia, which is only nine miles south of Atlanta.
The money can be used to pay for necessary repairs like as window replacements, roof problems, HVAC repairs, and bathroom improvements.
After the Homeowner Maintenance Enhancements Program began in 2023 for residents over 62, the age restriction was established.
According to Mayor Angelyne Butler, the grant program’s second phase begins with the opening of applications for younger people.

“Oftentimes, we at City Hall hear directly from residents just how expensive and financially overwhelming home repairs can be especially for those on fixed to limited incomes,” Butler stated in a press release.
“Being able to successfully offer a one-of-a-kind initiative like the H.O.M.E. Program only reinforces the resounding commitment we have to our constituents.”
Butler continued by saying that although the city is developing “new, high-quality housing,” officials still wish to improve existing residences so that locals may be proud of Forest Park.
Until December 31 at 5 p.m., eligible residents can apply online for the funds.
First and foremost, citizens must be of a certain age, dwell in Forest Park, and fulfill the federal income standards.
After reviewing each application, city officials will let the approved applicants know.

The chosen homeowner will then select a contractor for the repairs or changes in collaboration with the city.
City officials will provide the contractor the authorized funds.
Certified inspections will be carried out by officials both before and after the work is finished.
