I had a holiday romance in Dubai but her strict mum told police – now I face 20 YEARS in hellhole jail, says Brit teen
After starting a vacation relationship with a youngster in Dubai, an 18-year-old British national faces 20 years in prison.
The “strict” mother of the 17-year-old girl contacted police, which led to the arrest of Marcus Fakana from Tottenham, north London.
He might now face up to 20 years in prison after spending three days in a harsh U.A. prison.
After meeting on vacation in August, Marcus claimed he and the girl had a “wonderful time” together and intended to carry on their affair in London.
In Dubai, an individual who is 18 years of age or older who engages in sexual contact with a minor may face legal repercussions.
In the UK, the connection would be lawful.

Marcus claimed that he “couldn’t wait to see her again” when he returned home after the girl, who is now eighteen, left to go back to the UK.
However, he told the British charity group Detained in Dubai: “All of a sudden, the cops came to knock on the door of our hotel.
“They refused to explain why they were hauling me in for interrogation. I had no idea what it was for.
“I was frightened and my parents were terrified.”
After that, he was held at the Al Barsha Police Station for three days.
The girl had been “secretive” with her family when they met, according to Marcus.
“We really liked each other, but she kept her family secrets because they were strict,” he added.
“My parents were aware of our relationship, but she was unable to disclose her own.
“She had to meet me without telling them it was to see a boy.”
Later on, however, Marcus learned that the girl’s mother had viewed photographs and texts on her daughter’s phone.
When the mother returned to the UK, she shared them with the Dubai police.
“He was informed that his girlfriend’s mother had reported the relationship to authorities in Dubai after she had returned to London,” stated Radha Stirling, CEO of Detained in Dubai.
Involving the police in a private problem that is quite lawful in the nation where she resides and where the children have grown up, this mother is obviously very rigid.
“Perhaps she wasn’t aware that she triggered the possibility of a young man of only 18 spending the next 20 years in prison.”
Marcus is still stranded in Dubai after traveling there with his parents on August 26 for a brief vacation.
Law on tourists having sex outside marriage in Dubai
Recent reforms in Dubai have made it possible for visitors to engage in extramarital sex as long as both parties are older than 18.
However, both parties to an extramarital consenting relationship may be imprisoned for at least six months if either party’s spouse or parent/guardian files a criminal complaint.
A person who is 18 years of age or older and engages in sexual activity with a juvenile may face legal repercussions.
Any anybody under the age of eighteen is considered a child in Dubai.
Both individuals may face prosecution if they are under the age of 18.
However, the UK Foreign Office states that the only possible punishment in this case is probably going to be a warning, professional training, court monitoring, parental supervision, or psychiatric therapy.
It is also frowned upon to show affection in public. In the United Arab Emirates, kissing can result in arrest.
He went on to say: “My family and I spend $2,000 a month on Airbnbs.
“They needed to return home for work. My dad works at a warehouse, and my mother cleans houses, so they make a modest wage.
“They have already spent all of the money they had saved for this one-time vacation.
“I’ve been informed that the police’s demand of 10,000 AED (2,100) for bail is unusual, and the expenses are increasing.”
“I’m by myself here. I hope this horror ends so I can spend Christmas at home.
Human rights activist Radha, Marcus, and his family are now pleading with the UK government for assistance.

“Dubai police have the authority to drop the case against Marcus and allow him to return home,” Radha continued.
“This is not something we want to do to young people and we ask Mr Lammy MP to convey this message to his counterparts in the UAE.”
