I know the real reason Prince William and Kate Middleton took so long to get married, reveals Sun legend Arthur Edwards
In 2010, more than nine years after they first met at Oxford, Prince William proposed to his longtime girlfriend Kate Middleton.
The renowned royal photographer Arthur Edwards has recently disclosed the reason behind the now-Prince of Walesso’s delayed proposal.
Officially announcing their engagement in October 2010, the university sweethearts were married in a dreamy ceremony in 2011.
After meeting at St Andrews in 2001, they initially announced their relationship to the public in 2004.
Arthur explained why the royal prince had put off getting married for so long, even though William was 28 and Kate was 29 when they formally announced their union.
“I once asked William why he’s not getting married until he’s thirty,” Arthur stated on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show.

“I have to join the army because I’ll be in charge of the forces one day,” he stated. “After joining the Navy, I have to join the Air Force and the Marines.”
Then I have to go to business school, and there isn’t any time before that, he replied.
Arthur had previously mentioned William’s desire to ensure that his relationship with Kate would endure.
According to the royal photographer, William informed me that he wanted to ensure that his marriage would endure forever, which is why he and Kate took their time getting engaged.
As they sat on a pile of logs in the pine woods at Holkham Beach, in Norfolk, Arthur remarked, “Watching Kate snuggle into her husband’s shoulder as they sat on a pile of logs, in the pine woods, now that the Princess of Wales has finished chemotherapy, says to me that they are still very much in love.”
Perhaps much more so now than when I took pictures of them sharing two kisses on the balcony of Buckingham Palace following their wedding in 2011.
And I have no doubt that it will endure forever after the most trying few months of their 13-year marriage.
because they have a bright future ahead of them and have survived the difficult times.
Jokes about wait
When Kate went to the Evelina London Children’s Hospital in 2020, she “bonded” with a mother who was upset about how long it took her husband to pop the question.
Mother Sarah Ibendahl informed the Duchess during their conversation that her husband Ralph had been waiting nearly nine years to pop the question.
Sarah, whose son Benjamin was receiving treatment on the hospital for an autoimmune disease, recalled her conversation with Kate as follows: “We bonded over the fact that it took our husbands like nine years before they asked us to marry them.”
“When I mentioned it, she laughed politely and gave me a knowing smile.”

Inside Prince William and Kate Middleton’s relationship – in their words
On November 16, 2010, Prince William and Kate Middleton declared their engagement following years of courtship.
In an interview with the BBC, Prince William disclosed that he was aware of Kate’s uniqueness from the beginning.
“From my perspective, when I first met Kate, I knew there was something very special about her,” he stated in their engagement interview.
It turns out that her mischievous sense of humor was the decisive factor when asked what brought them together.
He said: It was wonderful fun, we had a great laugh, and then things happened. She has a pretty naughty sense of humor, which really helps me since I have a really nasty sense of humor.
Additionally, Prince William seems to be a very considerate partner to Kate. Swoon.
“You know, over the years William has looked after me, he’s treated me very well as the loving boyfriend he is, and he is very supportive of me through the good times and also through the bad times,” she remarked in a recent interview with Hello! about how much of a gentleman he is.
Millions of admirers worldwide watched Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding ceremony at Westminster Abbey in April 2011.
Before the service started, the enamored prince could be seen praising Kate, “You look beautiful,” as she wore a stunning Alexander McQueen dress.
In their relationship, having fun is the most important factor, despite their unusual lifestyle.
Prince William added: Obviously we both have a very fun time together, both have a very good sense of humour about things, we’re down to earth, we take the mickey out of each other a lot, and she’s got plenty of habits that make me laugh that I tease her about.”
