Iconic Instagram beach beauty spot BANS influencers taking pics on precarious cliff edge over fears of tragic falls
Fearing that selfie-seeking Instagram influencers will tumble to their deaths, a famous cliffside beauty has prohibited visitors.
In the past, visitors would wait for hours to get the ideal picture at Surfer’s Rock, which rises above the Brazilian beach of Lagoinha do Leste.
However, in order to prevent possibly tragic accidents, officials have chosen to close the Instagram hotspot, so it will remain abandoned.
The rock, called Pedra do Surfista in Portuguese, is expected to fall as a result of the numerous selfie-takers hoping to capture the ideal image, according to a recent geographical assessment.
Signs alerting tourists to the risk have been posted, and Florianpolis Municipal Civil Defense has prohibited all entry to the location.
The trail was marked with the following notices from Florianpolis’ Municipal Environmental Foundation: “Closed due to the precarious conditions, the possibility of rockfalls and erosion.”
