I’m King Charles’ ex-butler – why Kate Middleton, William & Queen Camilla were weighed after their Christmas lunch

One of the many peculiar holiday customs of the royal family is that they are weighed after consuming their Christmas meal.

The late Queen would take out the scales before and after the dinner to check how much food had been eaten, according to former Royal Butler Grant Harrold.

He said, “Do you know, apparently it is true,” to Fabulous.

When I questioned one of the now-retired royal chefs, he informed me that the Queen would weigh each person both before and after.

There must be truth to that, even though I haven’t seen the scales.

I believe that the Queen, who consumed the most food during Christmas, found it amusing to be weighed both before and after the feast.

Whether King Charles has carried on this royal custom is unknown.

Sandringham House is the customary location for the Royal Family’s Christmas celebrations.

Presents are exchanged during a black-tie event on Christmas Eve.

On Christmas Day, there are then one or two church visits in the morning, lunch, and the address by the monarch.

Royal festive feast

The exact way the affluent family eats at Christmas was disclosed by Darren McGrady, the former chef to Queen Elizabeth II, Diana, Princess of Wales, and Princes William and Harry.

A roasted turkey, salad with shrimp or lobster, and all of your usual side dishes, such as parsnips, carrots, Brussels sprouts, and Christmas pudding with brandy butter for dessert, are all included in the main menu.

They will be treated to a sumptuous buffet lunch in the evening, where 16–20 different dishes will be available for them to select from, and chefs will be there to cut the meat.

Queen Camilla, 77, has been inviting her relatives to stay as well, although King Charles, 76, has mostly adhered to these customs.

The traditional Christmas Day ceremony at St. Mary Magdalene on the Sandringham estate will be attended by Princess Kate, 42, and Prince William, 42.

Disgraced Prince Andrew, 64, and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, 65, are rumored to be attending Sandringham this year.

The rebellious Duke of York is thought to have been invited to the celebrations despite his ongoing argument with King Charles at the Royal Lodge.

Inside the Royal Family s extravagant Christmas Eve celebrations

The Royal Family usually gets together on Christmas Eve to begin the festivities, according to SARAH Hewson, royal journalist at Talk TV.

The small royals—George, Charlotte, Louis, and Camilla’s grandchildren—will assist in completing the tree’s decoration, she continued.

As a German custom brought about by Prince Albert, the royal family and all of their guests will then lay their presents on a trestle table in the crimson drawing room and open them during tea time.

Additionally, there aren’t any jewels under the tree, unlike what one might assume when considering a royal Christmas.

According to reports, Meghan gave the Queen a singing hamster for her first Christmas at Sandringham, and Kate once gave Harry a Grow Your Own girlfriend kit when he was single.

It is believed that the family will move to Norfolk once Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, have finished their education in mid-December.

Their haven is Anmer Hall, and this holiday season is probably going to be more memorable than usual given Kate’s cancer diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing rehabilitation.

It is also anticipated that Kate’s parents would join the Prince and Princess of Wales in celebrating throughout the Christmas season.

In addition to the Waleses, Carole, 69, and Michael Middleton, 75, have also had a difficult year.
