Incredible moment world’s shortest woman meets the world’s tallest – and discover they have lots in common

Yesterday, the tallest woman in the world and the shortest woman in the world met for the first time and exchanged warm greetings.

Over afternoon tea, 27-year-old Rumeysa Gelgi and 30-year-old Jyoti Amge, both of whom are 2 feet 1 inch, discussed their divergent outlooks on life.

Web designer Rumeysa suffers from Weaver syndrome, which causes fast development and skeletal abnormalities, while actress Jyoti has achondroplasia, a kind of dwarfism.

To commemorate Guinness World Records’ 70th anniversary, the two met at London’s Savoy hotel and talked about their personal lives.

I’m used to looking up and seeing people taller than me, so I was thrilled to meet the tallest lady in the world today, said Jyoti, an Indian.

I’m happy to have met Rumeysa.

SMALL BUT MIGHTY

I felt really at ease conversing with her because she is very kind.

Although Rumeysa, a Turkish woman, requires a wheelchair, she can stand for brief periods of time with a walker.

She added that although our height differences occasionally made it hard for us to see each other in the eye, meeting her was incredible.

We do have certain things in common, like our love of makeup, manicures, and self-care.

Alongside the tallest man, 8-foot-3-inch Turkish farmer Sultan Kosen, 41, and Diana Armstrong, 66, from the United States, whose 42-foot-ten-inch fingernails are the longest in the world, the title holders were recognized as GWR Icons in the most recent edition.

“The Guinness World Records Icons is all about celebrating differences,” stated Craig Glenday, editor-in-chief.
