Is the Goonies 2 poster real or fake? Good enough movie explained

FANS of the popular ’80s adventure film The Goonies went into meltdown when they saw a poster of a potential sequel floating on the internet

Directed by Steven Spielberg, the original film was a childhood favourite for all – but is it really getting a second part after more than four decades? All is not what it seems.

The Goonies was released in 1985 and is still one of the most revered films of all time.

The movie has acquired a cult following through the years, with fans identifying with the characters.

Fake poster

Fans have been left speculating about a potential sequel for The Goonies after a Facebook post featured what looks like a movie poster for a supposed second part of the film.

The post read: “‘Goonies are Good Enough’ takes place 40 years after the first film and sees Sean Astins Mickey recruiting the old gang to help recover a secret stash of Treasure he hid as Insurance back in 1985 when he was a child just before the cave collapsed.”

The post also revealed that some of the original cast members would return for the second part, which is set to release in 2026.

However, it has since been discovered that the Facebook post was false – and the new Goonies poster was generated by AI.

Even the original filmmakers confirmed a sequel to the original movie is not in the works.

“The plan is to start developing the ideas for the follow up next summer, with a possible release date of 2026 or 2027.

“The original is so culturally significant, Warner Bros’ know they have to get it totally right.
