Isak Andic dead: Billionaire Mango founder dies in horror mountain plunge after falling 500ft as son tried to save him

Following a terrifying tumble down a mountain, the wealthy creator of the fashion behemoth Mango regrettably passed away.

One of the wealthiest men in Spain, Isak Andic, was discovered dead after he slipped and fell about 500 feet while on a family vacation in Collbato, Catalonia.

Jonathan, the 71-year-old’s son, is thought to have initially reported the deadly drop to emergency personnel after attempting to save his father.

There was nothing that a sizable team of rescuers could do to help Andic when they got to the ravine scene.

The tragedy occurred shortly after noon today while Andic was seeing the Collbato Caves, located just outside Barcelona in the center of the enchanted Montserrat mountain.

According to the publication El Pais, he was traveling with other family members.

“Devastated by the loss of Isak Andic, a dedicated businessman who with his leadership has contributed to making Catalonia great and projecting it to the world,” Catalan President Salvador Illa said on X.

He has a lasting impression on the Catalan and international fashion industries. The Government as a whole sends its sympathies to the Mango team, friends, and family.

In 1984, Isak, a Turkish immigrant, and his brother Nahman founded Mango.

By March 2024, it employed more than 14,000 people at more than 2,700 locations throughout 110 countries, including 45 in the UK.

To commemorate its 40th anniversary, Mango announced earlier this year that it will be collaborating with Victoria Beckham to introduce a new capsule collection.

Mr. Andic is among the wealthiest people in Spain and Catalonia, with a net worth of 3.5 billion, according to a recent Forbes estimate.

Mango’s statement on the tragic death

Tony Ruiz, the CEO of MANGO, stated today: We regret to inform you of the untimely passing of Isak Andic, our non-executive chairman and Mango’s creator, who passed away in an accident this Saturday.

We have all looked up to Isak as an example. Because of his strategic vision, motivating leadership, and unrelenting dedication to the ideals he himself instilled in our organization, he dedicated his life to Mango and left an enduring impression.

His legacy is a testament to the accomplishments of a successful business venture, as well as to his humanity, closeness, and the love and care he consistently showed the entire organization.

Although there is a big vacuum left by his absence, we are all in some manner his legacy and the testament to his accomplishments.

It is our responsibility to make sure that Mango remains the endeavor that Isak dreamed of and of which he would be proud, and this is the greatest homage we can pay to him and shall do.

We feel the family’s suffering as though it were our own during these incredibly trying days.
