Jax Taylor and ex Brittany Cartwright took out $2.2m mortgage after he was hit with $1m tax lien
The U.S. Sun can exclusively disclose that after JAX Taylor was charged with a $1 million tax lien on their Valley Village house, he and his ex-girlfriend Brittany Cartwright took out a second $2.2 million mortgage.
The couple, who are divorcing, are now living apart after Jax moved into a small apartment close by.
After months of living in an Airbnb minutes away during a trial separation, Brittany and their son Cruz are back at home.
Jax claimed he couldn’t afford the rent and mortgage on an apartment, therefore he had previously lived at their house.
According to real estate records obtained by The U.S. Sun, the couple obtained a sizable mortgage in 2022.
In 2019, they first paid $1,910,000 for the property under a trust and obtained a $1,432,500 mortgage from 5th Street Capital, Inc.

According to filings, its maturity date was June 1, 2049.
In July 2022, The U.S. Sun obtained a Notice of Federal Tax Lien for $1,058,345.58, which Jax had failed to pay.
$23,008.45 for 2014, $118,169.57 for 2016, $72,110.16 for 2017, $198,190.36 for 2018, and $646,867.04 for 2019 were all included.
We disclosed that Jax eventually paid off all of his outstanding tax debt, but he was later slammed with further IRS bills.
BRITTANY THE BREADWINNER
The U.S. Sun can now disclose that they obtained a second mortgage with 5th Street Capital, Inc. for $2,240,000 on the house, which is expected to pay the taxes and has a 2062 maturity date.
They still hold the mortgage, according to fresh 2024 paperwork, and it was recently transferred to Wilmington Savings Fund Society, a new lender.
According to the U.S. Sun, Brittany only started making mortgage payments a few months ago.
The couple’s representative chose not to comment.
“The mortgage would be about $6,500 a month, not including interest, and assuming it’s a traditional 30-year term,” an unidentified analyst told The U.S. Sun.
“It would more likely be about $10,000 a month with fees and interest, and then taxes.”
In the past, Jax had Brittany leave the house, claiming he couldn’t afford to move.
As he stated in an episode of When Reality Hits, his podcast with Brittany, “I know I said we would never, ever leave each other, but it got to the point where she had to go.”
Jax clarified that by “go,” he meant that she needed to leave their family’s house.
“Everyone is saying, ‘Well, why didn’t you leave?'” he continued. I’m like, “Yeah, I pay my house’s mortgage now.”
The mortgage and, I don’t know, [for] two places were beyond my means. That is beyond my means. I am unable to pay for both an apartment and a mortgage.
After acknowledging that Brittany has been making more money than he had, he has since moved out.
In 2021, the U.S. Sun first revealed Jax’s tax issues.
The U.S. Sun initially revealed the tax story in 2021 after Jax and Brittany left Vanderpump Rules in December 2020.
BRAVO FIRING
With an estimated compensation of $25,000 per episode and the chance to lose out on almost $600,000 annually, Jax was the highest-paid employee on the Bravoshow.
He was accused of making “racist and transphobic” remarks, which led to his termination from the show.
The couple paid $1.9 million for their five-bedroom, four-bathroom house in 2019 before he was fired.
In April 2021, they also welcomed Cruz, their first child.
Last year, Jax and Brittany made a brief comeback to Vanderpump Rules and joined the Bravo spin-off The Valley.
However, because they are now divorcing, filming for The Valley has apparently been challenging.
Brittany previously acknowledged that they had a financial argument and that she earns a lot of money from sponsorship deals through appearances and social media.
Brittany told Scheana Shayon Vanderpump in April, “I could tell that was a shift for him because I was making more money for once.”
“We were fighting a lot because of that alone.”
She has, however, experienced financial difficulties of her own, as the Daily Mail reports that early this year she was slammed with a $35,000 tax debt.

The former couple also owns Jax’s Bar in Studio City, and Brittany is hoping to work with her ex’s business partners to create Britt’s, a venue in West Hollywood.
She is the only owner of their Mamaw’s Beer Cheese trademark, which they intend to sell someday, according to the U.S. Sun.
In a recent interview with Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast, Jax disclosed, “I think four weeks ago, my partners approached me and asked, ‘Hey Jax, how do you feel about us starting a bar called Britt’s?
“They said, ‘Listen, we understand what’s going on with you, with the divorce, if you say no, we won’t do it, why don’t you sleep on it and let me know.'” This was all during the height of it.
“You know, I reasoned that it would be financially advantageous. However, there will be conditions attached. I will be an investor and the “silent partner,” to use the phrase.
“She can have her say in how it is designed, but I will have a stake in it. I am the owner of Jax Taylor Inc.
Alex Baskin, the producer, then joked, “What could possibly go wrong?”
It was revealed during a week when they were getting on, and Jax stated that Brittany was quite thrilled with the news.

“I made this happen for you,” he boasted. Give me some leeway here, and then it returns to my terrible, self-centered nature.”
“Trust me, I’m going to make her very aware,” Jax said, acknowledging that his involvement in the project “probably hasn’t sunk in yet” for his ex. You are aware of that.
