Jerry Jones provides major Dak Prescott injury update and claims Dallas Cowboys quarterback’s ‘prognosis is wonderful’

DAK Prescott is officially out for the season and set to have surgery, Jerry Jones confirmed.

The Dallas Cowboys quarterback will have an operation on a hamstring injury this week.

And Prescott, 31, will miss the rest of the Cowboys’ campaign.

He picked up the injury in a Week 9 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

But Prescott has gathered multiple opinions and assessed his options before deciding on surgery.

Owner Jones provided the latest update in his appearance on 105.3 The Fan.

“He’ll have surgery in New York,” Jones said.

“He had a good visit on Monday night and he wants to do that there.

“He’s got great medical doctors up there.

“His prognosis is wonderful, it just means we’re not going to have him the rest of the year.”

Cooper Rush took over under center from Prescott in the Week 10 clash with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Dallas was hammered 34-6 by their NFC East rival in a defeat that left them 3-6 for the year.

Terry Bradshaw sends Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones a clear message about Mike McCarthy and makes Micah Parsons point

“Cooper has shown that he has the capability to compete and win in games,” Jones said.

“He does give us our best chance.

“Frankly, that was really an out-of-character game for him based on what we’ve seen and we know about Cooper.”

Prescott signed a new $240 million contract extension for four years before the season began.

Dallas is facing some big decisions around their coaching personnel and players.

Head coach Mike McCarthy is in the last year of his contract – and Jones has resisted calls to fire him.

Speaking on Fox NFL Sunday, Terry Bradshaw even called for Dallas to trade star pass rusher Micah Parsons.

Bradshaw said, “I think Mike McCarthy is probably going to get released at the end of the year.

“They had three years in a row where they had 12-5 seasons but they haven’t won one playoff game.

“Their quarterback is out now.

“My answer to Dallas’ problems is they need more talent so I would take Parsons and I wouldn’t sign him.

“He’s in his fourth year and would be in his fifth year.

“Trade him and get an extra No. 1.”
