Jerry Jones to be forced into paying $13.9 million to make Deion Sanders new Dallas Cowboys head coach after talks
If Jerry Jones wishes to bring Deion Sanders back to Dallas, he will have to pay a hefty price.
After splitting from Mike McCarthy, the billionaire owner of the Cowboys has his sights set on one candidate for the open head coaching position.
Sanders is now one of the most popular college football coaches after winning a Super Bowl with the Cowboys in 1995.
Sanders took over the Colorado Buffaloes after the Jackson State Tigers finished 27-6 in three years.
The year before he took over, they finished 1-11, but Sanders has completely changed the program.
Before losing in the Alamo Bowl, the Buffaloes were joint-first in the Big 12 with a 9-4 record the previous season after going 4-8 in his first year.

Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter and his son Shedeur are both predicted to be selected in the top five of the NFL Draft, demonstrating Coach Prime’s ability to exploit his celebrity to attract some of the best high school talents.
Sanders is Jones’ main goal because of his explosive coaching career, celebrity status, and longstanding connection to the Cowboys.
To get it done, though, the outspoken owner will need to reach into his pocket.
The third season of Sanders’ five-year contract, which pays him $29.5 million, is about to begin.
According to Front Office Sports, he would owe $8 million if he were to quit the university.
McCarthy received $8 million a season in Dallas, far less than some of the league’s highest-paid coaches.
At the top of that list is Andy Reid, the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, who makes about $20 million a season while attempting to win an unprecedented third consecutive Super Bowl.
In addition to his present $5.9 million yearly salary from Colorado, Sanders is eligible to receive an additional $1.85 million in bonuses and incentives.
Given that the Cowboys missed the playoffs, he probably wants a raise in order to accept one of the most important positions in American sports.
McCarthy reportedly left the Cowboys due to a contract dispute.
The core of the problem seems to be hinted at on the Cowboys’ own website: McCarthy wanted more guaranteed money over a longer time frame.
Mickey Spagnola, the columnist, wrote: “Jerry likely wasn t willing to commit guaranteed money over the five-year time period new head coaches have been signing over the past year, that certainly McCarthy s agent, Don Yee, was angling for.”

Earlier this week, Sanders confirmed he had talked to Jones over the phone – although it appears hemay be set to stay in Colorado for another season.
He told ESPN: I love Jerry and believe in Jerry. After you hang up, and process it, and think about it, it s intriguing. But I love Boulder and everything there is about our team, the coaches, our student body and the community.
With the rumor mill in overdrive, Sanders also sent a message to the whole program this week.
He said: “It s a privilege to be standing before you.
“I can t explain how happy and how thoughtful and how thankful I am for this day.
“I ve been praying about this day, I ve been anticipating this day. You must realize that it is a very emotional day for me.
“It s the first day I ve been up here without two knuckleheads. Looking back, Shilo warned me that I would be upset with him for missing today’s meeting.
“Well he s not meant to be in the meeting today. However, today is the first time I’m coaching without my boys, which is an honor and a pleasure for me. As a result, I can now focus on teaching rather than being a father.
