Judge to reckless driver suspect in Campus Martius crash: ‘You’re a danger sir’

DETROIT (FOX 2):On December 22, witness footage showed a Dodge Durango crashing through a barrier close to Campus Martius in Detroit.
Remacus Hall, the accused motorist in the 36th District Court, appeared before a judge on Friday in connection with the crazy collision that was captured on camera.
“What’s your name?” asked the magistrate.
“My name is Remacus Hall,” he introduced himself.
“You need a mirror to do your hair?” asked the magistrate.
“No, I’m just trying to look presentable – I’m sorry,” he replied.
Hall is accused of failing to stop while driving recklessly. According to investigators, he even told police that his Durango had been taken and that he wasn’t there.
As the defendant was wearing a GPS tether, Lisa Coyle, assistant Wayne County prosecutor, stated, “There is an Instagram video taken by somebody – there is also surveillance video because it is in the Campus Martius area.” “He’s been busy – he’s all of 20 years old.”
He already faces a case of evading and escaping from Dearborn, where he is suspected of driving 99 miles per hour in a 35-mile-per-hour zone four days prior, according to the prosecution. Another case for carrying a hidden weapon is also pending.
“So this guy has a lot going on here,” William Burton, the magistrate, stated.
“He has a lot going on here,” Coyle remarked.
This covers extra fees from the previous year.
Magistrate William Burton stated, “I’ve heard enough – I’ve heard enough – what was the cash bond you’re requesting?”
“I’m asking for a $100,000 cash bond – tether house arrest – it appears the tether doesn’t do any good,” Coyle stated.
The judge concurred.
“I believe that you just have a reckless disregard for court orders, sir,” Burton responded.
“Can I just say one thing?” “Hall said.”
The words “No you cannot say one thing,” were spoken by Burton.
“There is no bone in my body that says I have a disregard for the court’s order or anything of that nature – it’s just a simple line of bad decisions.”
“Well sir – I want to help you with your bad decisions,” Burton replied.
The judge issued a $100,000 cash bond, warning Hall that he would not be permitted to drive if he were to get out.
“I think you need some time in jail to cool off and reflect on your bad decisions that you’re on a mission to make,” Burton stated. “You’re a danger sir – step aside.”
