Judy O’connor, Wife of Former Pittsburgh Mayor Bob O’connor, Passes Away

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Judy O’Connor, who just passed away, was the wife of the late former Mayor of Pittsburgh, Bob O’Connor.

Allegheny County Controller Corey O’Connor was among the children of Judy O’Connor who announced her passing on Friday evening. Our mother had a passion for life that impacted everyone who had the good fortune to know her. She was committed to her family and friends. Heidy O’Connor, Father Terrence O’Connor, and Allegheny County Controller Corey O’Connor issued a statement in which they expressed their gratitude for the overwhelming support they have received from the people of Pittsburgh during this challenging time.

61 years old when he passed away in 2006, Judy’s spouse Bob O’Connor. Only seven months into his seven-month time as mayor, he was informed that he had a rare kind of brain cancer. A diagnosis of four brain tumors landed him in the ICU for a period of many months.

For the past year, her son Corey O’Connor has been sworn in as the county controller. Earlier, he had been the representative for District 5 on the Pittsburgh City Council. Judy described the day he was sworn in as a city councilman in 2012 as being “bittersweet.” It was an emotional day when he was sworn in.
