On Monday, the NFL revealed all 32 nominees, one for each franchise.
Every year, the award honors players who demonstrate exceptional sportsmanship both on and off the field throughout the league.
It involves “fair play, respect for the game, respect for opponents, and respect for the integrity of the competition” .
In addition, Mahomes is attempting to add it to his amazing collection of awards, which already includes two NFLMVPs and three Super Bowl MVPs.

In honor of Art Rooney, the original owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers, the award was created in 2015.
In 2023, Seattle Seahawks player Bobby Wagner hoisted it.
However, no Chief has ever won it, and Mahomes is notorious for talking trash on the field.
But the three-time Super Bowl champion’s off-field philanthropy and community service are what set him apart.
Eight finalists will be chosen by an NFL Legends Community panel of former players, with an equal number of nominees from the AFC and NFC conferences.
Voting for the NFL Sportsmanship Award will take place in December, and these finalists will be on the Pro Bowl ballot.

The Raiders selected Maxx Crosby, the Broncos selected Jonathan Cooper, and the Chargers selected Khalil Mack.
The winner gets a $25,000 donation to the charity of his choosing in addition to the award.

In his second season in 2018, Mahomes was awarded NFL MVP twice, First-Team All-Pro twice, and Offensive Player of the Year.
Despite being nominated three times in the past (in 2019, 2020, and 2021), he has never taken home the sportsmanship award.
