Kansas City Chiefs star Chris Jones breaks down in tears at national anthem in viral moment before NFL playoff game

Chris Jones, a defensive tackle for the Kansas City Chiefs, sobbed uncontrollably during the playing of the national anthem prior to the Divisional Round matchup with the Houston Texans.

When the 30-year-old Jones heard the national anthem at GEHA Field at Arrowhead on Saturday, his response went viral.

Lanell Lightfoot performed the national anthem while other players were visible on the ESPN cameras.

On the sidelines, one of the players, Chiefs standout Jones, was spotted crying.

At that point, Jones’s face was streaming with tears.

It’s nothing new for the six-time Pro Bowl player to express his feelings during the playing of the national anthem.

Jones also sobbed during the playing of the national anthem prior to the Chiefs’ victory against the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl in Las Vegas last February.

Jones’ most recent response to the national anthem left social media users speechless.

“Always a privilege to play at this level, love the passion!” Someone said.

“To me, that’s cinema,” someone another commented.

“Yeah it’s over for the Texans,” a third person said.

A fourth said, “This guy is the ultimate X factor,”

In another scene before to the game, Jones was emotional as well.

James Palmer, an NFL writer for Underdog Fantasy, shared a video of Jones seemingly praying in the Chiefs stadium tunnel before entering the field.

Palmer wrote, “Chris Jones takes a moment to be alone before taking the field,” as the Xclip’s caption.

With a sack on Texans star quarterback C.J. Stroud early in the game, Jones made his presence known.

Since being chosen by the Chiefs in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft, the veteran has been a member of the team.

Following consecutive 10-plus campaigns, Jones inked a five-year, $158.7 million contract with Kansas City last March.

However, Jones only had five sacks in 15 games this season.

Jones has three SuperBowlson his resume, and he will look to add one more as the No. 1 seeded Chiefs prepare to play their rivals on Saturday.

If Kansas City wins, they will play the winner of the Baltimore Ravens-BuffaloBillsmatchupnextweek.

The victor of that will square off against the NFC Champion team in the Super Bowl in New Orleans on February 9.
