Kansas City Chiefs suffer travel chaos to key Denver Broncos game after huge delays to flight due to freezing weather

After a terrifying day of travel that saw their trip to Colorado delayed for hours, the Kansas City Chiefs eventually landed in Denver.

In their final NFL regular season game, the Super Bowl champions travel to play the Broncos.

However, the players were left stuck on the airplane for four hours due to a winter storm that left them stranded on the runway.

When they finally took off and touched down in Denver, players like Travis Kelceseen and Patrick Mahomes were seen getting off the aircraft.

Even though the Chiefs had already secured the No. 1 seed in the AFC, quarterback Mahomes was rested for the game.

Given that Mahomes and his wife Brittany are expecting their third child, there has also been uncertainty about whether he would accompany his team on the trip.

Even though Kelce traveled with his team, he could also skip out.

Fox4 News reports that the Chiefs were scheduled to depart for Denver on Saturday at approximately 2:45 p.m.

But they did not take off until approximately 6:30 p.m. ET.

Storms caused “rapid ice accumulation” at Kansas City International Airport, forcing authorities to close the airfield.

Normally, the trip from Kansas City to Denver takes two hours, but there were further delays.

According to Fox4 News, this occurred as a result of a malfunctioning de-icing machine at the airport, which delayed the departure of planes.

According to reports, the Chiefs tried to change their itinerary so they could go earlier in the day.

However, they had to leave at the appointed hour since their charter plane from Denver arrived late in Kansas.

It was announced that the runways would “resume normal operations” at approximately 5:30 p.m. ET.
