Kate and Charles having cancer has humanised Royals – it’s a tricky year for them but they’re just like us, says expert

Although the Royal Family has had an extremely difficult year, a ROYAL expert asserts that their fights with cancer have made them more relatable.

Legendary royal photographer Arthur Edwards and Sky’s Royal Correspondent Rhiannon Mills joined Matt Wilkinson, The Sun’s Royal Editor, in speaking on this week’s Royal Exclusive.

Rhiannon described how the royal family has been put to the test this year, especially Kate Middleton, 42, and King Charles, 76, who are battling cancer.

Rhiannon acknowledges that the family has had a challenging year.

The cancer diagnosis has, in a sense, humanized them.

Consequently, the royal specialist acknowledged that Kate and Charles’ transparency about their treatment has demonstrated that they are similar to us.

Kate & Wills ‘to skip Xmas lunch with Charles but controversial royal WILL attend’

“I think it’s not a great year for the Republican movement to try and give the Royal Family a bashing, over money,” she adds.

I don’t believe the public is interested in taking them on.

Although the Princess of Wales hasn’t been seen much this year due to chemotherapy, the mother of three was recently noticed when she unexpectedly appeared in public with Prince William to meet Southport victims.

She has not attended any formal functions since undergoing stomach surgery in January, and this is her first public appearance with her spouse since receiving a cancer diagnosis.

After Bebe King, six, Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, and nine-year-old Alice da Silva Aguiar were killed on July 29 at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Merseyside town, Kate, who had previously talked about needing time, space, and privacy while she finished her treatment, spoke to first responders and families.

The families of the three sad children as well as dancing instructor Leanne Lucas, who was present at the time of the incident, had a private meeting with their Royal Highnesses.

Kate’s cancer speech ‘was inspired by late Elizabeth’s Covid message’

Rhiannon talks on Kate’s unexpected trip to Southport, saying: It’s been really hard to see mom out in public this year.

We were aware that Prince William will travel to Southport and have a private meeting with the family.

And we were informed that the Princess would also be present just an hour before he was scheduled to arrive.

What William and Kate can do, in my opinion, and what we witnessed that day, is to draw attention to a community that might have felt overlooked.

Surprise Southport appearance

On October 10, Rhiannon was there when Catherine was spotted embracing sobbing emergency personnel as they related to her their experience reacting to the stabbings in Southport.

“I watched the Prince and Princess conversing with emergency service personnel in the back garden,” she continues.

The stress of that visit was evident on their faces.

“There was a lot of emotion involved.

I’m not particularly surprised that she felt the need to make that gesture.

But I believe it’s all about those gestures in a year where we haven’t seen much of her.

She began a round of prophylactic chemotherapy in late February, according to a Kensington Palace representative.

Following a hiatus from royal duties, Kate said in September that she had completed chemotherapy and was concentrating on being “cancer free.”

In the upcoming months, she claimed she was “looking forward” to returning to work and doing a few more public appearances.

Inside Charles’ cancer fightback

Written by Royal Editor Matt Wilkinson

Around the world, the announcement caused a stir. King Charles was only sixteen months into his reign when he was diagnosed with cancer and announced his intention to retire from public service.

It was a horrible thing for this no-nonsense, keep-calm-and-carry-on Monarch, the eldest son of the even more stern Prince Philip, to acknowledge that he needed to reduce his workload.

When the King retreated from a series of commitments in March, such as the Royal Maundy Service at Worcester Cathedral and a two-day solo trip to Belfast, Dutiful Camilla, 77, filled in for him.

However, he is now remarkably fit enough to travel 10,000 miles on a demanding tour of Australia and Samoa just six months after the announcement.

According to a 75-year-old source close to the King, the sun wasn’t shining in February, but it is now.

When the King returned to the public eye on April 30 at a cancer hospital, he was eager to emphasize that not all cancer patient recovery programs are created equal.

Even though he is still in danger, people close to him say that there is a lot of hope and that the course of therapy has gone better than anyone could have imagined.

The specifics of how the Royal Household restored our beloved Monarch are made public today.

From the precise reason he was removed from duty to the groundbreaking procedures that prevented him from ever losing his hair to the actual reason his errant son, Harry, was only given a half-hour audience.

Charles’s experience started in January when he disclosed that he need surgery to treat an enlarged prostate.

He made the decision to share his situation with the world, which sparked a tremendous outpouring of sympathy.

The public’s response moved Charles, but he was also greatly encouraged to learn that men with similar worries were visiting the NHS website 11 times more frequently each day.

Then, however, things would get worse for him.

People began to worry when Charles spent a third night in care because he was supposed to spend two nights at the London Clinic, where Kate was also receiving treatment.

When tests showed cancer, those concerns became genuine.

But instead of keeping this heartbreaking information from the public, he made the decision to let it be known after the positive response to his prostate diagnosis.

Operation Bubble, which shielded the late Queen from COVID-19, served as the model for the meticulously crafted strategy that was put into motion.

In addition to receiving weekly therapy in London, he would schedule crucial downtime at Sandringham, Highgrove, and Windsor.

However, when Prince Harry declared he would fly from Los Angeles to visit his father, his health plan was thrown into disarray.

The King only spent thirty minutes with his errant son at Clarence House as he postponed his helicopter ride from Buckingham Palace to Sandringham.

There were precautions taken to prevent the King from contracting a secondary infection, and it was not a good idea for Harry to go 5,000 miles in a jet.

Aides prevented Harry, 39, joining his father at Sandringham fearing we d never get rid of him and he needed to reduce his social contact while undergoing cancer treatment.

The Department for Culture and Media had started making arrangements for the King’s possible funeral during this period, according to a Freedom of Information request, though sources claim this is not unusual.

Buckingham Palace has refuted claims that William was being considered as a possible Prince Regent in the event that the King was unable to fulfill the role.

The King continued to read government red boxes, but he was removed from all public duties for 103 days.

It is now known that the King’s weakened immune response to previous illnesses led to the decision to delay his public appearance as a precaution.

In order to reduce secondary infections like the flu or seasonal cold, the Royal Household adopted Covid-style protocols or levels that were enforced by the government during the epidemic.

According to a source, we had to reduce the risk posed by others, not because he was incapable of performing the job.

However, when winter gave way to spring and temperatures rose, they were able to loosen the Covid-style tiers.

This was illustrated at Windsor Castle’s St George’s Chapel, where the King was met by sixty well-wishers after leaving the Easter Sunday service.

The news that the treatment had gone better than anyone could have imagined had reached the monarch and his team just days previously.

One insider said: He was raring to go after the positive results and didn t want to hang around any longer .

It meant the King told aides that a trip to Australia, seen as the most important tour a monarch will ever take, must go ahead in the autumn, as first revealed by The Sun.

Meanwhile, Charles cancer ordeal began in January when he revealed he needed a corrective procedure for an enlarged prostate.

The King was then diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in February following prostate surgery.

He made the decision to share his situation with the world, which sparked a tremendous outpouring of sympathy.

The King was withdrawn from all public duty for 103 days although he continued reading government red boxes.
