Kebab shop forced to close after council found deep-fried RAT in kitchen – with unaware punters eating there for years

When the council discovered a deep-fried rat in the kitchen of their neighborhood kebab business, horrified patrons were left feeling disgusted.

In September, at the Mexicano Food Box in Preston, Lancashire, health inspectors noticed what seemed to be a well-cooked mouse.

For years, patrons of the kebab restaurant have been unaware that the dirty kitchen was teeming with crunchy vermin and cockroaches.

The kebab shop’s website claims that they provide “mouth-watering dishes and catering for all kinds of different tastes.”

One of these diverse flavors caught the eye of the council’s food hygiene officer, who took a photo of the object, which looked to be flattened down and extremely crispy.

Mexicano Food Box received a zero right away, the lowest possible rating on the cleanliness scale and the worst possible rating that may be distributed.

The rating indicates that quick change is required, and the council promptly sent the store owners a severe letter.

The notice stated: “A cockroach infestation was discovered with insufficient control, and the premises were not clean at the time of the inspection.

“Food was not protected from a risk of contamination.”

In order to conduct a thorough cleaning and implement strategies to manage the cockroach problem, the owners of Mexicano Food Box consented to voluntarily close the establishment.

The letter went on to say: “Should similar conditions be found on any future inspections then formal action may be taken.”

The council found bread buns kept adjacent to raw doner kebab meat during their inspection, which can cause cross-contamination.

Additionally, they tested a refrigerator that contained dairy goods and found that the temperature was 5 C higher than the permitted maximum of 8 C.

It is dangerous to keep food in conditions that are warmer than what is advised because this can encourage the growth of dangerous bacteria.

However, since there was no soap in the restaurant restrooms, germs didn’t seem to be an issue.

According to their website, Mexicano Food Box has a 4.2-star rating and has gotten comparatively positive ratings, regardless of the cleanliness standards.

Even the terms “excellent” and “great” were used in reviews.

However, after ordering takeout, one customer reported online that they felt a little shady.

They stated: “Won’t be ordering again, I ordered the chicken noodles with sweet chilli sauce and a couple of hours later I was being sick and having bowel movement, to put it politely.”

“Businesses must adhere to a minimal standard set by food legislation. Businesses that do not uphold these hygienic requirements will face formal action, and if the owner does not participate completely, “ends”
