Keir Starmer branded ‘disgrace’ after backing arrest warrant for Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu
After supporting a war crimes arrest warrant for the Israeli prime minister, SIR Keir Starmer is under fire.
In the fight against Hamas, Benjamin Netanyahu is accused of violating international law.
If he visits any nation under the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court, including the UK, he could be arrested.
Downing Street stated that PM Sir Keir supports the independence of the ICC after the warrant was issued yesterday.
According to No. 10, domestic courts will now have the last say on whether Britain agrees with the ruling.
Additionally, a spokesperson would not specify whether Mr. Netanyahu would be jailed if he traveled to Britain tomorrow or if he would be welcomed.

However, Robert Jenricks, the shadow justice secretary, stated: The UK shouldn’t implement this ridiculous warrant from a court that is politicized. Starmer is an embarrassment.
Priti Patel, the shadow foreign secretary, stated that Labour must denounce and contest the ICC’s ruling.
Additionally, former Home Secretary Suella Braverman stated: The ICC is no longer credible. They have denigrated the international rules-based system and mocked the law.
Attorney General Richard Hermer has pledged time and again to uphold the ICC’s decisions, and the UK is a party to the Netherlands-based court.
Additionally, the court issued arrest warrants for Yoav Gallant, the former Israeli defense minister, and Mohammed Deif, the presumed deceased leader of Hamas.
According to its judges, there were good reasons to believe that the men were criminally liable for alleged crimes against humanity and war crimes.
Hamas and Israel deny the accusations. It was labeled anti-Semitic by Mr. Netanyahu’s staff.
The administration of US President Joe Biden likewise vehemently disagreed with the decision.
