Keir Starmer channels Winston Churchill by insisting he does not have to choose between the US & Europe
Putting himself in Winston Churchill’s position, Sir Keir Starmer asserts that he is not forced to choose between the US and Europe.
In an effort to put Britain at the forefront of the global scene, the prime minister vows he will not be siding.
He attempted to serve as a bridge between the two by channeling both Churchill and former Labour Prime Minister Clement Attlee in a significant foreign policy speech last night.
In light of these perilous times, the PM stated: “I want to be clear right away that the idea that we have to choose between our allies, that somehow we’re with America or Europe, is just wrong.” I completely reject it.
Attlee didn’t pick one ally over another. Churchill didn’t. We must cooperate with both in the benefit of the country.
Ahead of Donald Trump taking office next month, the prime minister also used the speech at the Lord Mayor’s Banquet in central London to strengthen ties between the US and the UK.

Our two countries’ cooperation has consistently been the best hope for the globe and the most reliable approach to further our shared national interests.
In spite of Mr. Trump’s warning to levy 60% tariffs on Chinese goods, the prime minister also praised the UK’s ties with China.
