King Charles pays tribute to 67 victims killed in tragic DC crash after Black Hawk chopper hit American Airlines plane

King Charles is “profoundly shocked and saddened” by the 67-person death toll from the Washington, DC, airplane accident.

America is still in mourning for those killed in Wednesday’s tragedy, which occurred when a military helicopter and an American Airlines aircraft collided.

“Our hearts, and our special thoughts, are with the people of the United States and our deepest sympathy goes to the families and loved ones of all the victims,” the King said in a statement sent through Buckingham Palace.

“I would also like to pay a particular tribute to the emergency responders who acted so quickly to this horrendous event.”

The American Airlines aircraft collided with a Black Hawk chopper that was midway through its downward course on Wednesday night.

Since November 2001, this is the deadliest US air crash.

When the Black Hawk crashed into the approaching passenger jet, three soldiers—including a new father from Atlanta—were killed.

After the terrifying impact, the plane broke into three pieces and exploded into a flame.

As emergency operations began, both planes then fell into the Potomac River.

Rescue workers labored during the night in frigid, gloomy conditions, but survivors’ hopes soon dwindled.

A few hours later, the effort shifted from a rescue to a recovery operation, and all of the passengers were thought to be dead.
