Kirk Herbstreit reads out text message from Pat McAfee live on TNF as Philadelphia Eagles suffer kicking disaster
KIRK Herbstreit read out a text message from his colleague Pat McAfee while live on air.
The broadcaster was calling Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime with Al Michaels.
The duo were at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for a Week 11 showdown.
The Philadelphia Eagles beat the Washington Commanders 26-18 in front of their home fans.
But they were plagued by kicking issues during the contest.
Jake Elliott missed two field goals and an extra point in a game to forget.

His highlights package popped up during the TNF broadcast, which Michaels narrated.
Herbstreit then jumped in to read out a message from his ESPN colleague McAfee.
“My guy Pat McAfee texted me,” Herbstreit said.
“He have better kicks with his kicking contest than what he’s doing right now.”
The message was in reference to a segment on College GameDay.
McAfee and Herbstreit select a random fan from the college crowd during the Saturday show.

The supporter can win a cash prize if they manage to kick a field goal successfully during the show.
Herbstreit hotfoots it from Amazon’s TNF to ESPN’s College GameDay shows on a Saturday.
Saquon Barkley put up 198 yards and ran in two touchdowns in Philadelphia’s victory.
And plenty of Eagles fans stuck around at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Barkley was interviewed live on Amazon Prime, the rights holders for Thursday Night Football.
Pat McAfee’s playing days
Pat McAfee enjoyed a hugely successful stint before switching to a career in the media.
The talk show star played punter in the NFL for eight seasons from 2009 to 2016.
He was a seventh round NFL Draft pick in 2009 out of West Virginia and spent his entire career with the Indianapolis Colts.
The ex-punter was named to the Pro Bowl in 2014 and 2016, and he was a first team All-Pro in 2014, as well.
McAfee owns the unique NFL record of the highest career net average punting yards with 41.4 yards while his longest ever punt was 74.
He made his way over to the TNF set just by one of the sidelines to speak to the Amazon crew.
Saquon tried his best to answer questions from the panel.
But his responses were drowned out by Eagles fans chanting, “Thank you Giants.”
The chant was in reference to the New York Giants trading Barkley to Philadelphia this off-season.

Amazon host Charissa Thompson saw that Barkley was swimming against the tide and interjected.
She said, “I’m going to stop you for a second and let the crowd take this one.”
