KitKat makes first-ever ‘seasonal’ switch in 89 years and CEO promises it will become a ‘newfound annual ritual’

THE holiday season is known as the time of year to enjoy a little indulgence.

If you have a sweet tooth, you might want to check out the latest “seasonal”candy bar.

The Hershey Companyrecently announced its newholiday-inspiredtreat.

“This season, let’s all take a break from tradition with KitKat Santas,” the company said.

Swapping out the traditional KitKat fingers, Hershey has subbed in a more festive shape.

“Santa Claus deserves a break, and thanks to KitKat, he’s getting one this year with the launch of its first-ever seasonal shape – KitKat Santas,” the snack empire wrote in a press release.

The Christmas candy is available for a limited period of time in the lead up the holiday season.

Each Santa is “adorned with imprinted boots, a jolly smile and an even crispier wafer-to-chocolate ratio than a traditional KitKat bar.”

KitKat Santas are currently available at nationwide retailers in 8.85 ounce snack size bags.

Whether you’re in the market for a well-deserved treat during the hectic holiday planning or a stocking filler, these Santas may be worth a try.

Scott Sorensen, who works as the Associate Manager of KitKat, spoke about the new release.

“Our first-ever shape, KitKat Santas, builds on the KitKat brand’s product portfolio to offer a new way to bring fun to consumers,” he said.

“With an even crispier wafer-to-chocolate ratio, this seasonal twist on our traditional KitKat bar is sure to become a newfound annual ritual.”

He added that the Santas give “fans a taste of more of what’s to come from the brand.”

As well as the first-time ever festive snack-size KitKats, Hershey has also announced another holiday treat.

The Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups Sugar Cookie is now available in regular, king, and miniatures.

“It just wouldn’t be the holidays without sugar cookies,” the candy brand said.

History of KitKats

The candy bar was first invented in York, England in 1935.

It was first named “Rowntree’s Chocolate Crisp” before the name “KitKat” was adopted a couple of years later.

The brand has gone on to become a worldwide phenomenon, with 17 billion KitKats eaten across the globe every single year.

“We combined your two holiday favorites in one Reese’s Peanut Butter Sugar Cookie Cup.”

According to the Hershey Company, the product is “specially created to showcase the classic flavor and texture of sugar cookies.”

“The cookie pieces are stuffed within the creamy peanut butter that Reese’s products are known and loved for,” they explained.
