Kohl’s is quietly closing another location but shoppers aren’t in the loop about post-holiday plans

Customers’ post-holiday plans are in jeopardy as KOHL’S is closing its prominent store location.

The department store chain is scheduled to leave the property shortly, even though there are no closing signs or confirmed liquidationsales.

Currently, Kohl’s operates more than 1,170 stores throughout 49 states.

According to The Enterprise, there are at least two lease advertisements for the store located at 501 Technology Center Drive in Stoughton, Massachusetts.

One of the ads, on the commercial real estate website LoopNet, which is run by CoStar Group, describes the facility where Kohl’s presently operates as being in “excellent condition” and suitable for “retail, industrial, and/or storage.”

The Stoughton Property Assessor website states that the space is owned or leased by RK Stoughton LLC.

LEAVING SOON

The property has a negotiable lease term, states that it will be available on January 1, 2025, and includes a realtor’s contact details.

The store’s employee told The U.S. Sun that although the lease was up for renewal, they had not been informed of a closure and that they had received conflicting information about what would happen in the coming year.

For customers who regularly visit the Kohl’s store, which is roughly 22 miles south of Boston, the future is uncertain in light of the revelation.

BOUNCING BACK

In recent years, Kohl’s hasn’t shut down many locations.

According to USA Today, it suffered during the peak of the coronavirus outbreak in 2020, just like many other retailers.

At the start of the year, when things were at their worst, sales fell by almost 43.5%.

According to an afiscal study, Kohl’s recovered in the ensuing years and announced plans in May 2023 to open five new locations after the first two opened at the end of 2022.
