Last chance to score checks up to $5,400 from $500k data breach settlement and all you need is a receipt to get the cash
There is a last opportunity for Americans to get up to $5,400 from a $500,000 settlement related to a purported data breach.
All you need to get the money is a receipt.
In order to settle allegations against it, McPherson Hospital in Kansas has consented to pay half a million dollars in a class action lawsuit.
In June 2022, the hospital allegedly failed to protect patients from a data breach, according to class members.
Those whose sensitive information was compromised by hackers will benefit from the compensation payout.
A phishing email is said to have deceived one employee into giving hackers their login credentials, resulting in the exposure of 3,000 patients’ worth of data.

According to the lawsuit’s plaintiffs, McPherson Hospital ought to have taken more precautions to keep the data safe from hackers.
In McPherson, Kansas, there is a critical access hospital with 25 beds.
It has chosen to reach a financial settlement rather than acknowledge any wrongdoing.
According to the lawsuit’s conditions, individuals may be compensated up to $400 for typical costs associated with the breach, such as bank fees and credit costs.
Additionally, they can get paid $30 per hour for up to three hours of lost time.
Class members may be eligible for additional payment of up to $5,000 if they suffer “extraordinary” losses as a result of the breach, such as fraudulent charges and identity theft-related damages.
Claimants who do not have proof of losses may instead be paid $75 in cash.
Additionally, free credit monitoring services for three years are available to all class members.
Additionally, the hospital has committed to enhancing its security and making plans for future advancements in cybersecurity.
Claim forms must be submitted by tomorrow, January 29.
February 5 is the day of the data breach settlement’s final approval hearing.
Account statements, credit reports, invoices, tax returns, and other financial records are examples of supporting documentation.
In order to avoid penalties, people are advised not to make a claim if they do not have a good case.
Additionally, Americans do not even need documents to cash in on a $5.8 million settlement, and they have until February 1 to do so.
In order to address allegations that it violated mortgage servicing regulations, Nationstar Mortgage has consented to pay the millions.
Additionally, another multi-million dollar data breach settlement paid by insurers Progressive might pay out up to $5,000 to Americans.
