Lions react to break-ins targeting NFL players: ‘Everybody knows your schedule’
The Lions will play two away games after this week’s home game against the Bills. It is their hope that they will not become the next victims.
(FOX 2) Allen Park, Mich.Members of the Lions are on high alert due to a recent spate of break-ins that target National Football League players.
“I think some of our guys sent out a message (to) you know, just be safe,” Jameson Williams, the receiver, stated. “Know it s that time of the year, just be safe and take care of yourself.”
The most recent casualty was quarterback Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals.
According to defensive tackle DJ Reader, “It’s just unfortunate that it happened to Joe.” Obviously, everyone is aware of your schedule, which is why I detest it. You can’t just run away from it. You’re playing Monday Night Football or this and the third, as everyone knows. It’s simply unfortunate, you know.
On December 9, while Burrow and the Bengals were playing in Dallas, there was a break-in.
Burrow reported feeling his privacy had been infringed.
“Some people just don t have respect or things like that for people who do stuff for the city – you know, it s kind of weird,” Williams stated. “You just got to always watch your surroundings and be safe at all times.”
This season, Burrow wasn’t the first casualty. Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and quarterback Patrick Mahomes were also targeted. In early October, a few days apart, their residences in the Kansas City region were broken into.
The residence of Kelce was robbed of thousands of dollars.
Reader remarked, “It’s not something that’s new,” “You are aware of a common occurrence in the league and all other leagues. People are able to determine whether or not you are home by sitting and plotting. and it’s a little bit easier if they know where you reside.”

“I doubt the person was just sitting there with all the lights off, you know what I’m saying?” The reader stated. “People don’t appear to care. It s unfortunate where we are right now. People are simply hungry and starving. It s holiday times, just all of those things you know, factor into it. It’s awful.
FOX 2 was told the NFL sent a memo to players in late November, cautioning them about what has been happening.
