FOX 2, Southfield, Mich.has been difficult to find for the majority of Metro Detroit in southeast Michigan, but that is all about to change on Friday as the entire region is under police control.
Although the system isn’t strong enough to warrant a warning, the winter weather advisory was issued early Friday morning to warn people before the snow fell.
How much snow in Metro Detroit?
Based on the figures:
On Friday, the snowfall will begin at 1 p.m. and last for around 12 hours. Around 3 or 4 p.m., it will be at its heaviest, which would cause chaos on the way home.
Although some locations may receive up to four inches of snow, we anticipate the whole area receiving two to three inches. Although this isn’t a lot of snow, it’s the first good snowmaker of the season because we haven’t seen much.
There will be snow in Metro Detroit soon. Around two to three inches will fall in Southeast Michigan over the course of the weekend once it arrives on Friday.
Metro Detroit would have received more than 14 inches overall on average. Only six inches of snow have fallen so far.

Another system enters the Great Lakes later Sunday or early Monday, bringing some light snow after the snowfall on Friday night and Saturday morning.
What about the cold? It’s not going anywhere, so I hope you have some additional hats and gloves. For at least the next week, temperatures will stay below normal.

10 p.m.:
Following Linwood, which blocked off a portion of the road, a collision happened on SB M-10.
MDOT has reported eight collisions, primarily in downtown Detroit.
Although there is less traffic, cars are still moving slowly.
8:54 p.m.
Multiple crashes that were later cleaned up were reported by MDOT throughout Metro Detroit. After Outer Drive was cleared up, they reported a crash on SB I-75 on X.
Following Mt. Elliott, a crash on WB I-94 has also been cleared.
7:25 p.m.
The crash on WB I-94 after E Outer Drive has been cleared, according to MDOT’s social media announcement.
After being in the red Friday night, traffic in Metro Detroit has now subsided.
Now, snow plows are traversing Detroit’s downtown.
5:57 p.m.
Along I-75 north of Detroit, additional accidents are happening, and some more are being cleaned up south of the city. Near the city, there are less plows on the road.
MDOT has reported a collision on EB I-96 in Greenfield, resulting in the closure of the left and center lanes.
4:27 p.m.
Currently, MDOT plows are dispersed throughout Southeast Michigan. In Metro Detroit’s southwest, a number of collisions have been reported along I-75, I-275, and I-96.

3:12 p.m.
As drivers become more cautious, traffic on Detroit’s freeways is beginning to slow down.
According to a Michigan Department of Transportation post on X, an incident on northbound I-75 in Clarkson has reduced traffic to just the left lane, while another crash on I-94 close to the Southfield Freeway has blocked the shoulder.
In the snow, drivers are advised to slow down and allow a little more time to get to their destination.
2:27 p.m.
According to Southfield, snow is beginning to fall across Southeast Michigan. The radar shows that there is snow on the ground throughout Metro Detroit, which means that practically everyone is experiencing snowfall.
2:00 p.m.:
Snow is starting to move around Metro Detroit including Flint and then south to Lenawee County and southern Wayne County.
Friday afternoon will bring snow to the rest of Metro Detroit.
