DEBARYLIFE – After being shot three times by St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies during a confrontation on Sunday night, the man from Bayou Gauche is said to be in stable condition, according to the authorities.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, which made additional information about the encounter public on Monday night, Dalton Todd, 26, was armed with a gun when he ran toward the police and pointed the weapon at them, prompting the deputies to open fire.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Todd will be charged with five charges aggravated assault against a peace officer, aggravated assault with a firearm, and resisting an officer with force or violence after being released from the hospital.

Shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, Todd’s girlfriend reported to the police that he had put a gun to her head, according to the agency.

After being sent to a home in the 3900 block of Bayou Gauche Road, deputies assembled outside the building. Todd emerged when they asked for him to, according to the Sheriff’s Office, and he was carrying a pistol.

Todd resisted the deputies’ orders to put down the gun. Todd was momentarily shocked by the beanbag bullets fired by the deputies, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

In the end, the Sheriff’s Office claimed in a news release, “he refused, forcing deputies to discharge their firearms when Todd was approximately 15 yards away and closing in on them.”

Todd was struck three times before collapsing. Authorities claimed that once he pushed the revolver away from himself, deputies treated him with first aid until they could take him to the hospital.
