Macomb County dispatcher helps deliver baby

In late December, a Macomb County dispatcher assisted a guy in delivering his wife’s kid by guiding him during the delivery. The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office provided the video.

(FOX 2) CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MIWhen a guy contacted 911 because his wife had gone into labor, a Macomb County dispatcher was the improbable hero.

When the baby was born, Cidnee Schramm calmly and composedly walked the caller through the processes over the phone.

She was informed that the woman’s water had burst and that her contractions were occurring at a one-minute interval when she was picked up at the sheriff’s dispatch center at approximately 5:42 a.m.

As the baby began to emerge, she first instructed the dad on where to put his hand. She advised him to stroke the newborn’s back to encourage breathing and to wipe the baby’s mouth to get rid of any fluid.

The pregnant woman is audible in the background for the entire call. Her baby’s cries can eventually do the same.

Until the Clinton Township Fire Department arrived on the scene, Schramm remained on the phone.

Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said, “We are extremely proud of the calm and professional manner in which Dispatcher Schramm handled this call.””Dispatchers like Cidnee prepare diligently for instances like this, and we are thankful for this positive outcome.”

The sheriff’s office can report that the mother and child are doing well.
