Man arrested after leaving scene of fatal car vs. pedestrian crash in Madison Heights
Fox 2: Madison Heights, MichiganA gold Toyota vehicle struck and killed a 67-year-old Detroit man who was waiting for a bus on southbound Dequindre Road in Madison Heights just before 5 p.m. on January 29.
The sedan’s driver, later identified by authorities as 30-year-old Jala Salim Safah, allegedly ran off the road, struck Sammie Baker, killing him, and then fled the scene. Safah was accused of abandoning the scene of the collision, a felony that carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison if found guilty.
Safah was granted a $10,000 bond after being arraigned in the 43rd District Court on Saturday morning.
