Man caught on camera stealing money jar from St. Clair Shores restaurant

Workers claim that a man who was captured on camera enters and exits as easily as their guacamole.

FOX 2: St. Claire Shores, Mich.Having all of your tips stolen is never a nice idea, particularly when you’re still recovering from the holidays and, worse, on the first day of the new year.

Florida’s El Charro Manager At their St. Clair Shores facility, Shonk was working a sluggish New Year’s Day shift. She claims that a man who was seen on camera enters and exits with their tip jar at around 2:00 p.m.

It was too late for her to comprehend what he had taken.

“Third o’clock “There was no tip jar when I went to count the tips,” Shonk remarked.

She estimates there was about $20 in there, which isn’t enough to support a retirement, but nevertheless.

“We work for those tips and for some guy to just come in and steal it, it’s like what are we working for,” Shonk said.

She hopes someone will recognize the man who entered, even though they are accustomed to seeing the same faces.

“We just like to ask him why, like what do you get out of stealing from small businesses,” Shonk continued.

Although that wasn’t the ideal way to begin 2025, they are taking steps to ensure that it won’t occur again.

“Yeah, we don t have our tip jar in the front anymore, we keep it in the back,” Shonk replied.

“Yes,” they said when asked if they still took tips.

Workers did report the incident to the St. Clair Shores Police. Give the police any tips if you know anything.
