Marshalls confirms all 1,200 locations will close down for 24 hours in retail blackout – and TJ Maxx won’t be much help

MARK your calendars, because an upcoming retail blackout will impact all 1,200 Marshalls locations.

The off-price retailer will close its doors for 24 hours in observance of the upcoming national holiday.

As families across the US gather around the dining table to celebrate Thanksgiving, major retailers will honor Turkey Day by shutting down.

Marshalls is just one store on a long list that will observe the holiday, which will take place on November 28.

The off-price department store chain will send its employees home for the day to enjoy time with loved ones.

Although customers won’t have the opportunity to shop the store on Thanksgiving Day, eager holiday shoppers can hit the aisles early on Black Friday as most Marshalls locations will open at 7 AM.

Shoppers should not expect exclusive Black Friday deals, however.

Marshalls offers merchandise, including apparel, homeware, jewelry, and beauty products at discounted prices year-round.

The retailer’s brand name and designer products are generally priced 20% to 60% cheaper than traditional department stores.

For this reason, Marshalls does not mark down its prices further for Black Friday.

The same is the case for its sister brand TJ Maxx, which is also owned and operated by parent company TJX Companies.

TJ Maxx will follow suit with Marshalls and shutter its over 1,300 US locations for Thanksgiving.

Marshalls and TJ Maxx aren’t the only shopping destinations shutting their doors on Thanksgiving.

Major retailers such as Bath & Body Works, Best Buy, Macy’s, JCPenny, Home Depot, Walmart, and Target will be closed to customers on the 28th.

However, a handful of stores will be open to shoppers looking to get their retail fix.

Some CVS locations will be open, and most Rite Aids will be open during regular hours.

Big Lots will also be available to customers from 7 AM to 9 PM on Thanksgiving.

Shoppers may also be able to hit the aisles of Family Dollar, as the discount chain was open last Thanksgiving from 9 AM to 9 PM.

Bass Pro locations will be open from 9 AM to 6 PM, and most Old Navy stores will open at 3 PM on Turkey Day.
