Maryland Homicide Suspect Arrested in West Virginia, Faces Return for Trial

PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. —

An extradition back to Maryland is planned for a murder suspect who was captured in West Virginia.

On Saturday, while driving west on Interstate 64 past the Hurricane exit, Emanuel Edward Sewell, 54, of Chevy Chase, Maryland, was taken into custody. during a parole officer was discovered dead on Friday night during a planned visit to Sewell’s home, authorities stated he was wanted for second-degree murder.

The entire Maryland state mourns with us. Not only was Davis a committed agent, but he also supported his mother, 66, and his brother, 29, who has autism, alone. On Wednesday, Sewell, a recognized sexual offender, signed his release from custody. Police can take custody of the person until June 14 at 5 p.m.

The gray 2017 Hyundai Elantra owned by Sewell was reportedly seen driving about, according to U.S. Marshals.

Authorities tried to halt the car at around 5:30 p.m., but the driver refused to stop. To get the suspect off the road, U.S. Marshals had to push him. During the chase, no injuries were recorded.

When Maryland first released a Blue Alert, it cautioned that the suspect should be regarded as armed and dangerous and requested assistance in identifying him.

Without a bond, Sewell has been detained at Western Regional Jail.
