DEBARYLIFE – Ice cream enthusiasts reside in Massachusetts. Heck, Friendly’s, one of the most well-known and well-loved ice cream businesses, was established in Springfield, Massachusetts, decades ago.

Not all ice cream tastes the same; some brands may taste excellent, while others may taste a little bland. Because of the contents in certain ice cream companies, they can’t even be called ice cream. These ice cream companies are referred to as “frozen dairy desserts” or “frozen dairy treats” in this instance. However, everything is a matter of preference and viewpoint.

Baskin Robbins is ranked #3 on 24/7 Wall St.’s list of the worst ice cream brands. This traditional ice cream company has come under fire for utilizing dubious additives such as carrageenan, cellulose gum, guar gum, and mixes of stabilizers and emulsifiers comprising mono and diglycerides. It’s also been noted that consumers are not happy with the taste and the hint of freezer burn that forms on the ice cream.

According to 24/7 Wall St., Breyers Frozen Dairy Desert is the second-worst ice cream brand. The primary grievance regarding the well-known company is that it now produces goods that lack the creamy fat content required to be classified as ice cream and hence cannot be sold under that name. Breyers is one of my favorite ice cream brands or should I say, dairy dessert brands.

Turkey Hill is the #1 worst ice cream brand according to 24/7 Wall St. So what’s the deal with the brand receiving the dubious honor? Like other ice cream brands that have ended up on this list, Turkey Hill uses the same principal offenders- cellulose gum, cellulose gel, and carrageenan making it a low-quality treat.

There are a lot of folks who would argue over which brands ended up on this list and which ones aren’t on the list. The best way for you to decide is to try some of the brands and flavors yourself. You can view the complete list by going here.
