Massive Gunshot Happened! NOPD Response Time Under Fire from Murder-Suicide Victim’s Family
New Orleans, Louisiana –
Public criticism of the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) for what they call an unsatisfactory response time has come from the family of a victim of a murder-suicide. Following last week’s horrific occurrence in the Lakeview area, the victim’s family is still in search of answers as the community is in shock.
When neighbors reported hearing gunshots, authorities, according to police reports, were called to the scene. When authorities got there, they discovered that Anna Thompson, 35, and her estranged husband, Mark Thompson, 37, had both passed away.
Mark Thompson shot his wife to death before turning the pistol on himself, according to evidence that investigators have since verified.
Deeply hurt and angry by how the incident was handled, Anna Thompson’s family has spoken out. The argument put forth is that the horrifying incident may have turned out differently had the cops acted more quickly.
As stated by Sarah Jenkins, Anna Thompson’s sister, “They took almost thirty minutes to arrive.” The delay was intolerable, but we acknowledge that not all situations can be avoided. Perhaps things would have gone differently if they had come sooner.”
The family’s concerns have been noted by the NOPD, which has also launched an internal study to assess response times and decide whether to make any adjustments to procedures.
The families of those affected have our regrets, and the NOPD is taking this seriously, according to a statement sent by Officer John Randle, a spokesman for the department.

According to Officer Randle, “We send our sincere condolences to Anna Thompson’s family.” Protecting and servicing our community is the New Orleans Police Department’s mission. To find any opportunities to enhance our response times and general quality of service, we are carefully examining this situation.
Others in the community have also voiced their opinions, urging the police force to be more transparent and accountable. They contend that in many regions of the city, especially those with high crime rates, response times have long been a problem.
James Williams, a prominent member of the community, stated, “This is not an isolated incident.” It is time for the NOPD to address these systemic flaws, as we have witnessed delays in police response times around the city. Effective and prompt law enforcement services are a right for our communities.”
The incident has prompted a more extensive discussion concerning the resources allocated by the department and police response times. All citizens will receive timely and sufficient emergency assistance, according to the city leaders’ commitment to closely collaborate with the NOPD.
As the inquiry proceeds, the Thompson family is left to lament their loved one’s passing and push for reform to stop tragedies like this one from happening again. Jenkins stated, “Anna cannot be brought back.” “But we can push for changes that might save someone else’s life.”
The New Orleans Police Department is still conducting its investigation, so they are urging anyone with more information on the incident to come forward.
